Why Beyond 4.5?
Somalia has made important progress in rebuilding institutions and restoring stability.
But long-term peace, development, and democracy require systems that unite citizens around a shared national purpose.
Beyond 4.5 exists because many Somalis believe the country’s future should be guided by equality, accountability, citizenship, merit, and democratic participation.
Meaning
“Beyond 4.5” represents the belief that Somalia must move beyond political systems based mainly on clan allocation and toward a democratic future based on equal citizenship.
The movement does not reject Somali communities, culture, family identity, or social traditions. It rejects the idea that political rights and national opportunity should be permanently limited by clan-based formulas.
The Case for Reform
Somalia’s future requires institutions that build trust, encourage participation, and treat citizens equally.
A system based on equal citizenship can strengthen the sense of shared national purpose.
Fair institutions help citizens believe that government serves everyone equally.
Leadership should answer to citizens through transparent and democratic participation.
Young Somalis need real pathways to civic leadership, innovation, and service.
Equal opportunity supports entrepreneurship, investment, innovation, and job creation.
A shared civic foundation can reduce division and support lasting reconciliation.
Beyond 4.5 is not against any clan, community, or region. The movement is for all Somalis.
Its purpose is to strengthen national unity, create equal opportunities, and build a political system where every citizen has the same value at the ballot box.
Somalia has one of the youngest populations in the world. Millions of young Somalis dream of a future defined by education, jobs, entrepreneurship, technology, peace, and dignity.
That future cannot be built on division alone. It requires common purpose, strong institutions, and citizens who believe they have an equal role in shaping the nation.
Future
The future belongs to those who build it.
Help build a Somalia beyond division, beyond limits, and beyond 4.5.
