Movement Overview
Beyond 4.5 is a grassroots civic movement advocating for a Somalia where citizenship comes before clan identity and where every Somali has an equal stake in the nation’s future.
For decades, political arrangements based on clan representation have been used as temporary solutions to complex challenges. But Somalia now stands at a crossroads. A new generation is ready to build a nation based on equality, democracy, accountability, opportunity, peace, and national unity.

We envision a Somalia where every citizen’s vote carries equal weight, leadership is earned through service and competence, young people have opportunities to lead, and national identity is stronger than clan division.
To mobilize Somalis at home and abroad to support peaceful democratic reform, promote national unity, empower youth leadership, and advocate for a future built on equal citizenship and one person, one vote.
